Antoine lives on the French northwest coast of Brittany near the portside town of Saint-Malo in a small estate cradled amongst the rolling, green hills in Lanvallay. This was a time when France was at peace. Yes, life was a joy to live in the golden age of La Belle Époque, the Golden Era of France.
However, life had been unkind to Antoine whose impressionistic paintings were rejected by the imperialistic, upper-class society of France’s Parisian Art Establishment. Feeling all had been lost, he returned home.
Little did he realize what waited around the corner. Finding love, inspiration in his paintings and the discovery of a fleet-footed horse, he surges towards Paris with hope in his heart and courage in his soul. What happens next is truly remarkable as Antoine, his wife, Camille, and Monsieur Gagnier race against time and the horses at the Grand Steeple- Chases de Paris.
